The Society is co-hosting a fringe event with Legal Aid Practitioners Group and JUSTICE
Monday, 5th October 2026 from 1.00pm until 2.30pm

This event will consider the challenges facing the criminal justice system including the retention of legal sector practitioners and the pipeline between arrest, trial and sentencing alongside the longstanding issue of overcrowded prisons.

The UK legal sector is a national economic asset. This event will consider how government can ensure it continues to thrive though the necessary policy frameworks that support courts, digital infrastructure, and maintaining the UK’s reputation as a trusted legal centre, safeguarding access to justice. Recognising UK’s justice system as national infrastructure with a vital role in growth and trade.
