About the event

This is a great opportunity to hear from one of our foremost public international lawyers at a time when events in Ukraine, Kosovo and elsewhere have highlighted the challenges to the rules-based international order.

Sir Christopher Greenwood was an elected judge of the International Court of Justice from 2009 to 2018. He is a member of the Panel of Arbitrators for the Law of the Sea Treaty, the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and the United Kingdom National Group Permanent Court of Arbitration. He is a judge of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal.

Sir Christopher is Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge.  He was Professor of International Law at the London School of Economics specialising in international humanitarian law. As a barrister, his court appearances included the Pinochet case in the House of Lords, cases about the Lockerbie bombing and the Kosovo conflict in the International Court of Justice and numerous cases before the European Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the English courts. He is a Bencher of Middle Temple.

There will be a short reception after the main lecture.
